When Dreams Collide by William Mark Simmons is the 2nd novel in his Dreamland Chronicles of virtual reality hybrid science fiction/fantasy novels, free again for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Venture imprint.
This was originally published in 1992 by Warner, credited as by Wm. Mark Simmons. The 1st novel in this series was a finalist for the Compton Crook Award, and this is a special anniversary edition with slightly altered text and a retrospective foreword by the author.
The series is partially set in our modern world (circa the 1990s) and partially in a medieval fantasy-themed immersive virtual reality gaming environment where the players use magic to interact with their world, and this story features an attempt by the gaming world’s corrupted AI to wreak havoc on players in the real world.
