This was originally published in 1983 by Schocken Books, and was later reprinted by HarperCollins.

The book looks at the societal meaning of motherhood and the myths formed around it over the centuries vs. the reality, drawing upon both historical as well as contemporary examples (circa the 1980s) from the experiences of herself and her patients, and calls for less restrictive role modeling and expectations for women who are mothers.

The Texas Rancher’s Return by Allie Pleiter is the 1st novel in her Blue Thorn Ranch series of inspirational f/m contemporary western romance, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Harlequin’s Love Inspired imprint.

This is apparently being made free to promote the upcoming 4th novel in the series, The Bull Rider’s Homecoming, which is being released in May. NB: This is part of Harlequin’s Love Inspired imprint, which is targeted towards the Christian fiction market and must follow certain guidelines, but is not itself a dedicated faith-based line. YMMV on how much religious-seeming content there may actually be.

The series follows various characters associated with a particular family ranch in Texas. This story stars a prodigal cowboy son returned to save the ranch from a developer, and the charming widowed single mother who works for said developer and may yet take his heart as well as his homestead.

The First Shot by the late British author E. C. Tubb, perhaps best known for his long-running science fiction Dumarest Saga, is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour’s Pioneering Press imprint.

This was originally published in 1957 by John Spencer under the title Colt Vengeance using the pseudonym James R. [Free Audiobook] The Maze Runner Files by James Dashner [YA Science Fiction]

The Maze Runner Files by James Dashner is a supplementary tie-in to his popular Maze Runner series of young adult science fiction novels, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Penguin Random House Audio.

This is narrated by actor and filmmaker Mark Deakins, who has appeared in various installments of the Star Trek and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer franchises. The series is set in a dystopian future where after a devestating astronomical disaster, the authorities engineer a virus under the belief that the Earth can no longer sustain its population, but the virus mutates and has odd effects on the remaining human survivors.

This supplement, which is about 90 minutes in length, gives behind-the-scenes “Classified Records and Concealed Information” about various story elements behind the novels, which have been adapted into a film series.
