This was originally published in 2002 by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line using the pseudonym Conrad G. Holt based on a story by the late John Russell Fearn which came out under the same title in 1948.

The story features a ruthless oil baron’s attempt to terrorize locals into selling, and a resisting rancher’s plucky schoolteacher daughter who finds herself drawn into a web of murder and revenge as a mysterious stranger interferes with the oil baron’s plans.

This was originally published in 1954 by Hamilton & Co. as #130 in their Panther Books line, using the Mike M’Cracken pseudonym.

The story is set in the aftermath of the US Civil War, when a band of entrepreneurial outlaws take advantage of the chaos by moving into a small town as the ostensible new post-war authorities, using made-up new laws to terrorize the inhabitants, whose only hope of salvation is a wandering amnesiac gunslinger veteran who cannot remember which side of the war he fought on, but is dedicated to the cause of justice nonetheless.

This was originally published in 1953 by Western Library under the title Lone Cherokee using the pseudonym Mike M’Cracken, and was later reprinted by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line using the pseudonym Philip Cornwell.

The story stars a Cherokee warrior who is at the centre of a conflict as an American army targets his people as an excuse to seize neighbouring Spanish territory, facing opposition from within by a rival and finding unexpected allies outside.

Bowie of the Alamo by the late British author John Glasby is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, free again for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1964 by John Spencer under the title The Trail Blazers using the pseudonym Chuck Adams and was later reprinted by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line.

The story makes use of the historical setting of proto-Texas back when it was still the Mexican territory of Tejas, starring a man accompanying a group of illegal American settlers, who gets caught up in the fight for territorial control.
