This year, they’ve switched over to requiring the Overdrive Sora app available for iOS and Android (previously, these were available as DRM-free MP3s with a time-limited download period to your computer/device), but once added to your in-app library, these will remain permanent titles that you can re-download at any time at your leisure.
You’ll need to signup with a valid email address on AudioFile’s front page for the promotion, and then enter the setup code audiobooksync in the Sora app when asked, and then claim each week’s featured title using the Borrow function on its page in the app, more details available on their FAQ page for the promotion.

Ragdoll by British author Daniel Cole is the 1st novel in the Ragdoll series of police procedural serial killer thrillers, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Orion’s Trapeze imprint.
This is the featured Free Book of the Week in the iTunes UK store. The series is set in London and alternates between cases pursued by a former Detective, William Fawkes, who wavers between returning to the force or being disgraced from it, and his former partner, DCI Emily Baxter, who is still an active police detective.
This installment sees the two of them reuniting to tackle the case of the the titular serial killer, who has already created a frankencorpse of six victims stitched together, and threatens to create another from a list of upcoming victims given to the media which the detectives must rush to save even as the world is watching.

The Shift by George Foy, a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in literature and known for his pseudonymous genre-bending literary-flavoured works, is the 1st novel in the Shift sequence of futuristic science fiction mystery/crime thrillers with dystopian satire elements, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Venture imprint.
This was originally published in 1996 by Bantam Books and was a finalist for the Philip K. Dick Award.
The story is a cyberpunk-flavoured murder mystery technothriller set in a satirically dystopian near future, starring a television writer who draws inspiration for his scripts from a virtual reality simulation of an alternate 19th century New York where he plays the role of a cop chasing a deadly historical serial killer, who becomes even deadlier when he seems to escape from the program into the modern real world.

Beg for Mercy by Jami Alden is the 1st novel in the Dead Wrong series of f/m contemporary romantic suspense with strong thriller elements, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Headline’s Eternal imprint.
This is the featured Free Book of the Week in the iTunes UK store. The series is apparently heavy on the suspense (half of them are also billed as serial killer thrillers) and tend to be second chance reunion romances, starring persons with trust issues who’ve run afoul of terrible crimes deal with the other party who seemingly betrayed them and now becomes key to their protection, as new dangers target them.
This one stars a woman desperately trying to prove the innocence of her brother, who was arrested by her ex on charges of murder, thereby putting herself in the way of the sadistic killer in his latest case, who may have done the deed instead.
