Into the Woods by Ireland resident expat American author Tana French, who has been referred to as “the First Lady of Irish Crime”, is the 1st novel in the Dublin Murder Squad series of contemporary police procedural murder mysteries, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Penguin Random House Audio.
This is their featured Free Book of the Month offer for August and is narrated by Steven Crossley. The novel won four awards in the Best First Novel category, including the 2008 Edgar, Barry, Macavity, and Anthony Awards, and is being offered to help promote the author’s upcoming standalone thriller, The Witch Elm, released later this year.
The series is set in Ireland, and alternates cases spotlighting the various detectives in the Dublin Murder Squad. This first case has psychological suspense thriller elements, and follows two detectives who investigate a girl’s murder, whose death seemingly has links with one of the detectives’ pasts which may provide clues to solve the crime.
