[Free eBook] The Last Hero: A Biography of the Explorer Bill Tilman by Tim Madge [20th C Mountaineering Travel Writer]

The Last Hero: A Biography of the Explorer Bill Tilman by British author Tim Madge, an historian and journalist, is a 20th century explorer and travel writer biography, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press.

This was originally published in 1995 by Mountaineers Books and this edition contains a brand-new foreword by the author musing about the explorer’s relevance to the 21st century.

This covers the life and times and accomplishments of the late British explorer, mountaineer, and travel writer Bill Tilman, a recipient of the Royal Geographical Society’s Founder’s Gold Medal who climbed Mount Kenya in Africa in the 1920s, participated in early Mount Everest and other Himalayan expeditions in the 1930s, and after WWII took up deep sea sailing to Arctic and Antarctic waters in search of new mountains to climb, where his last ship mysteriously disappeared during the 1970s.

Offered worldwide, available at Amazon.
