Yellow Gulch Law by the late British author John Russell Fearn is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1950 by Kaner (there’s a nifty blogpost about the history of this small publisher, if you’re interested), and was later reprinted by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western using the pseudonym Malcolm Hartley. The story stars two strangers riding into town, desperate for work, only to find themselves part of a corrupt and brutal operation that the local authorities turn a blind eye to, and thus begin planning a workers’ revolt.

This was originally published in 2002 by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line, using the Jack R. Phillips pseudonym. The story features a newcomer in town, who appears to be framed for the murder of his partner and other incidental crimes, and winds up as a fugitive with a beautiful saloon singer with a supposedly shady past, as they both try to uncover the true culprit and clear their names while on the run.

The Captive by the late E. C. Tubb, a prolific multi-genre author best known for his sfnal Dumarest Saga, is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1955 by John Spencer using the title Comanche Captive and the E. F. Jackson pseudonym, and was later reprinted as part of the Linford Western Library line. The story is set during the US Civil War, when a man is tasked to locate a missing train which is vital to the war effort, when he becomes the captive of the local Comanche Native American tribe, and must escape them to succeed in his mission.
