Queen Sacrifice by Welsh author Tony Riches is a standalone experimental literary fiction historical drama novel, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press.
This was originally published in 2012 by Preseli Press. Unusually, the novel’s plot is experimentally structured upon the moves in a famous 1954 chess match between players Donald Byrne and Bobby Fischer, now known as “The Game of the Century”.
The story takes place in 10th century Wales on the brink of a civil war between the increasingly Saxonized south and the north which holds to the old ways, as the various players in the game meet and act and move to support or eliminate one another.
Offered worldwide, available at Amazon.

Spicy Slipstream Stories, edited by Nick Mamatas & the late Jay Lake, recipient of the 2004 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, is a standalone speculative fiction anthology with experimental literary and LGBT erotic elements, free for a limited time courtesy of LGBT specialty publisher Lethe Press.
The genre-bending “slipstream” category combines sfnal speculative fiction elements with literary fiction form, and in this case, occasional eroticism (I own this from a long-ago purchase and it’s fairly mild in the stories I’ve read), with this anthology featuring risqué homages to the sexily adventurous pulp fiction of yesteryear by contributors including World Fantasy Award-winning Ekaterina Sedia, Carrie Vaughan (author of the popular Kitty Norville urban fantasy series), and many more.
Offered DRM-fee worldwide, available at Amazon.
