Presumption: An Entertainment by Julia Barrett, a joint pseudonym shared by the late Julia Braun Kessler and British novelist Gabrielle Donnelly, is a literary sequel novel, free for a limited time courtesy of the University of Chicago Press.

This is their featured Free Book of the Month for November and was originally published in 1993 by Thorndike Press, as the first in a set of sequel books focusing upon selected characters after the end of Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice.

This volume is a social drama with f/m romantic elements, focusing on Darcy’s younger sister Georgiana, as she chooses between suitors of her own.

Légende T01: L’enfant loup by Belgian author Yves Swolfs, an award-winning bande dessinée writer and artist, is the 1st album in the Légende series of medieval heroic fantasy adventure, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Soleil.

The French-language bande dessinée series is an heroic fantasy epic in a medieval setting, following a mysterious knight who is only survivor of a family massacre nineteen years ago. This first album won the 2003 Prix Saint-Michel in the “Prix de la presse” category and is apparently being made free as a promo for the upcoming long-delayed 7th volume (2-5 are also currently discounted for a limited time, probably just through the end of the month).

This first volume sets up the origin story and initial adventures as an ambitious Duke and his councilor search for the vanished child while they rule over the war-torn duchy.

This was originally published in 2007 by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line, using the pseudonym Owen G. Irons, and is Barnes & Noble’s Free Fridays selection for the weekend.

The story stars a man on an unusual mission of revenge, to destroy the town he once founded in his youth as a place for hard-working settlers, which has since become irredeemably corrupted by a gang of hired guns.

The Fallen Omnibus by Robert Don Hughes is a collected edition comprising the 1st & 2nd novels in his The Fallen duology of science fiction conspiracy thrillers with strong theological and time travel elements, free again for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Venture Press imprint.

This contains The Fallen and The Eternity Gene, both originally published in 1995 & 1999, respectively, by Broadman & Holman, a dedicated religious publisher imprint. The author has also written mainstream fantasy novels for Ballantine’s Del Rey imprint, which are also reprinted by Venture.

The duology stars an academic pastor who gets caught up in a supposed alien abduction scheme with a strange agenda, and ends up taking time-traveling journeys to uncover the truth, which may not involve actual aliens at all. The original novel of the abduction and the mystery behind it was written standalone, and in the follow-up sequel, he discovers the root of the conspiracy and its intended plans.
