This was originally published in 1984 by Ace Books. The series takes place in a hybrid science fiction/fantasy world with demonpunk “technology”, amidst a multiverse accessed by travelling the road between the worlds.
This installment follows after the events of the 3rd novel (previously also offered free), seeing the hero, his arachnid sidekick, and a new traveling companion take to the road again to prevent a bodiless evil wizard from obtaining the titular magical MacGuffin which wil allow him to recorporate and resume his presumable reign of terror.
