This was originally published in 2001 by Harcourt. This is an historical literary fiction coming of age novel, which is also semi-biographical treatment of Elvis Presley, and includes a foreword with a bibliography of the author’s non-fiction sources.

The story is set during the 1950s onwards, starring a boy who becomes a fan of the King and grows up alongside him, with his idol’s life experiences reflecting upon his own in a culturally-changing America, after a chance encounter leads to an unexpected friendship between them.
