[Free eBook] Cry For Freedom by Graham Diamond [Historical War Drama Novel with Romance]

Cry For Freedom by British author Graham Diamond is his historical war drama personal saga novel with strong f/m romantic elements, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press.

This was originally published in 1980 as Tears of Passion, Tears of Shame by Berkley’s Jove imprint using the Rochelle Leslie pseudonym, and appears to have been revised somewhat when the author re-released a self-published version under his own name in 2008 via BookSurge. The story is set in South Africa during the late 1870s in the lead-up to the Anglo-Zulu War. This is one of those grand sweeping sagas which relate historical events via personal drama, with the viewpoint split between three characters, and is centred around a free-spirited woman of mixed Dutch colonist and British ancestry returning from boarding school to her home town of Natal, which is slowly falling prey to conflict and turmoil due to British imperial expansionism, who is torn between the two sides of her heritage as well as conflicting feelings for the Boer childhood sweetheart who hopes to marry her and a dashing newcomer Scot, while they are all caught up in the war.

This was originally published in 1985 by Fawcett as part of their Gold Medal line. The story stars off in a historical version of the city of Basra in Iraq, probably during later-medieval times when international exploration and trade had become more widespread The hero, Aladdin (who may or may not be encountering a helpful genie along the way), attempts to rescue the kidnapped fiancée of his friend the Sultan, embarking on a perilous and mysterious quest to a fabled faraway magical land in the company of his European sailor friends.

[Free eBook] Marrakesh: The Omnibus by Graham Diamond [Arabian Folklore Adventure Fantasy]

Marrakesh: The Omnibus: Books 1-2 by British author Graham Diamond is an omnibus edition of two of his fantasy adventure novels based upon Arabian folklore and history, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Venture imprint.

These were originally published in 1981 & 1983 by Fawcett’s Gold Medal imprint. The setting is a magical version of the city of Marrakesh in Morocco, and while both novels take place there, they are otherwise unrelated standalones which can be read separately. Marrakesh is based upon the folktale of “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” from the classic 1001 Nights aka Arabian Nights collection, and the heroine is a descendant who embarks upon a quest for a fabled magical treasure. Marrakesh Nights is based on history which has become legend, as the heroine finds herself the key to defeating the Assassins (who were feared during their heyday from the time of the Crusades up until the Mongol invasion) who are led by the Old Man of the Mountain.

These were originally published in 1980 & 1981 by Playboy Press (which also published “serious” genre and thriller novels in addition to the porny stuff). These novels are loosely based on historical events from the 13th & 14th centuries, set in the titular Central Asian city during the period of the Mongol invasions. These books star the Princess Sharon, a cousin of the ruling emir, who escapes the besieged city into the arms of a local hill tribe, who believe she may be able to fulfill their ancient prophecy of reclaiming the city as their own by means of terrible magical powers with which to take revenge upon the invaders.
