The story stars a man turning to cryogenics in the hopes of saving the dying woman he loves, awakening again and again in future eras to try new technologies until finally humanity has advanced to the point where she can be restored, but only if he can fight off an alien invasion whose warlike aggression the peaceful future no longer understands.
