Redemption Trail by Preston Wood, a retired screenwriter who wrote many episodes of various classic TV westerns, is his standalone western historical action adventure novel, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press’ Pioneering imprint.

This was originally self-published in 2010 via self-publishing packager AuthorHouse under the title Weatherbee’s Gold, and later picked up by a Willowbank Books, which appears to have been a now-defunct small press started by two (other) genre authors.

The story is set during the California Gold Rush, starring a man who sets out with some friends with dreams of striking it rich, and through a series of mishaps winds up a wanted man in the aftermath of a failed raid on gold-grabbing outlaws.
